The love of the Father is beyond what human words can describe. He cares for us more than we can possibly imagine. The deeper in love with Him I fall, the greater my realization of how deeply He loves relationship with us. His capacity for patience with fallen mankind is truly incredible—and wonderful! He affords each person the ability to choose to have a relationship with Him. Many choose not to. Led away by their own carnal thoughts, they eventually pay a dear price for their waywardness. Maturity is the price for those who choose to walk with Him, and they testify that it’s worth every bit of the price. Nevertheless, the Father’s love for mankind is super incredible—and unquenchable. His love never fails and never gives up. Who else in the entire universe would willingly offer up His only Son as a sacrifice for the world! Some might say, “Well, there was Abraham,” and that would be true, to a point. However, in Abraham’s case, it was a personal test of his obedience. Christ, on the other hand, showcased His obedience to the Father by becoming the lamb to the slaughter—for all of us.
The Father gives us not only goodness, but great goodness. One of the most amazing things that we will ever know about the Father is that He is good! Nothing can ever take away His goodness because goodness is His very nature. In Him, there is not the slightest trace of vindictiveness or revenge. He does not switch His goodness on and off. Goodness is His character. The infinite, unsullied goodness of our Father is part of the incredible beauty of who He is, and He demonstrates this to us by the very essence of His breath of life. Many people define goodness by how much they have. They measure it according to the accumulation of their resources. But when we have the Father’s breath of life, we have something that is too beautiful for words; something truly indescribable. Yes, there are many material things that result from goodness that we can enjoy, such as riches, houses, and land. But the Father’s goodness means that “we go well.”
Another word for “great” is “abundance.” Abundance means never lacking in anything. Our Father is infinite in abundance. Because of His goodness, we have the potential capacity to never run into a drought. Our faith is the determining factor. Continuous goodness and abundance flow from the Father in plentitude! Abundance stems from the Father’s love for us. It is we who place regulations on how we see the Father and each other. Some become competitive, others hold back, while still others devise plans on how to portion everything out. We make up excuses about the Father based on how we see ourselves. The truth of the matter is that the more of the Father’s goodness we have, the more we give out without hesitation. Father God is one continuous reservoir of abundant goodness. He will never run dry, and neither will we as long as we maintain our trust in Him.
