Seek The Father

The issue of “self” is a hindrance when it comes to relating to the Father. The serpent’s deception in the Garden of Eden was to trick Adam and Eve into trying to function by self-effort alone, thus separating them from their source of life—God. There is one “self,” however, that is vital to our being, and that is self-control. To seek the Father is to exercise self-control by relinquishing our self-reliance and moving toward Him in humble recognition that apart from Him we can find no true and lasting satisfaction or peace. Such a capacity is beyond ourselves alone.
