God Listens To Our Prayers

And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up to the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD. Then Hezekiah prayed to the LORD, saying: “O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, the One who dwells between the cherubim, You are God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. Incline Your ear, O LORD, and hear; open Your eyes, O LORD, and see; and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to reproach the living God. Truly, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations and their lands, and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were not gods, but the work of men’s hands — wood and stone. Therefore they destroyed them. Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are the LORD, You alone.
— Isaiah 37:14-21 NKJV emphasis added

There are many religions in the world today, and virtually all of them teach and practice prayer in one form or another. Some pray to the sun and moon; others pray by offering sacrifices; still others escape the noise of the world to look for tranquility where nobody can find them. When not connected to the right source, the words of prayer have no power or impact. Prayer is more than just two-way communication between us and God. It is, in fact, fuel that energizes our spirit. Prayer creates a balance within our beings that words cannot describe.

Nobody is immune from problems in life; trouble is universal. More often than not we try to solve our problems by ourselves within our own strength and wisdom. But eventually we come up against difficulties that exceed our capabilities, and that’s when we need power from beyond ourselves to reach a breakthrough. We find that power through prayer to our Father! Walking with Him daily sensitizes us to know His heart toward us and all mankind. This daily interaction positions us to receive divine insight into all things. Our Father never deceives us, and He never plays the game of withholding external blessings until we pray. He desires relationship. Based on this understanding of prayer, we can see the value of making it a standard that every believer should practice daily. Consider prayer as the very life breath of your being; with every inhalation and exhalation, your heart pumps and your spirit pulses in harmony with your Father.

As we face daily struggles and search for alternative answers, the Father is ever willing to show us the way. He is the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE. He is the Master Architect and Creator of the universe and everything in it. We miss so many opportunities to learn from Him because we insist on doing everything ourselves. Our Father gives men wisdom, but remember, He is WISDOM. When we seek to live in continual engagement with Him, we will experience tremendous growth in our spirit man. Natural answers are temporary; spiritual answers connect everything together and hold forever.

Making time for our Father is a discipline we should practice daily, with building relationship as our core motivation. Prayer lifts us to a place that transcends all issues, problems, struggles, circumstances, and trials. We gain a heavenly perspective that enables us to persevere because we know that He never leaves us nor forsakes us.
