Discerning Deception

How can you say, “We are wise, And the law of the LORD is with us?” Look, the false pen of the scribe certainly works falsehood. The wise men are ashamed, They are dismayed and taken. Behold, they have rejected the word of the LORD; So what wisdom do they have?
— Jeremiah 8:8-10 NKJV

The Father’s words are forever precious; there is nothing like them. Every syllable He speaks is “Truth,” for there is no deceit in Him. He raises up people to represent Him by becoming His voice to a people whom He has called out. Prior to Christ’s coming, the Holy Spirit moved only upon certain men or women whom the Father spoke to. They in turn conveyed to individuals, tribes, or nations what the Father had said. But it has never been the Father’s final intention to speak only to “certain” individuals; His heart has always been for all mankind to know His voice and enter into a covenant relationship with Him. Even in the time of Moses, when the people had the opportunity to go with him to hear the Father speak, they declined and instead asked Moses to represent them. Jesus Christ established a new precedent, granting full and open access to the Father for all who will come to Him in faith. It is our immaturity, stubbornness, and pride that prevent us from walking in the fulness of the Father.

Even today there are people who come in the name of the Father, and who appear to show all the signs of being connected to the Father, but whose hearts are far away from Him. They are caught up in the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. Within them is a crookedness in which they mislead people by perverting the truth to suit their own lifestyles, aspirations, and ambitions. These so-called “leaders” have a wayward heart and a misguided tongue, and they write down false things. My heart has been saddened as I have seen and heard people praise these charlatans as “modern theologians.” They have a warped view of morality and interpret the Word of God through the lens of a worldly viewpoint. These so-called teachers “inspire” by a wrong spirit, and they are a false pen. Innocent people are led astray by others who carry the same viewpoints as these misguided leaders. Like spirits attract, and so do like minds! They are ones who have no love for the Father or His word. Instead, they seek to establish their own truth and follow their own rules.

However, there are those who are committed to following He who is “Truth.” They are a people who are completely in love with the Father and whose hearts are devoted to completely satisfying Him. They walk in His ways and live in a place of utter obedience to Him. The road they travel is sparsely traveled by others. While most people prefer shortcuts and an easy path, these realize that the journey is long but favorable. Their great surety is knowing that the Father walks with them. They surge with continuous energy drawn from their daily communion with Him. They live in a place of continual rest and have developed the patience and ability to wait. Filled with discernment, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding that the Father gives them, they become a “pen of truth.” They choose to hear only the voice of the Father and do exactly as He says.

When the “Truth” is in you, the principles of this world will never find abiding ground no matter how hard they try. They will always be exposed for the falsehoods they are. The words of the Father are life and contain all the nutrients necessary—and more—to sustain us. Then, whenever we see or hear things that the Father is not in, we walk away, no matter how enticing they may otherwise seem. We choose never to reject His word but always to live with and in it with honor and delight.
